Tomorrow, I’ll be partnering with San Joaquin County Office of Education to facilitate RISE UP – Session 3, a training focused on one of the most overlooked levers in classroom success: intentional routines and procedures.
This session centers on a simple but powerful idea:
When routines are unclear, students fill the gap.
Rather than offering generic classroom management tips, this training:
Uses real classroom scenarios teachers actually face—especially in alternative and high-needs settings
Guides educators to analyze student behavior (what students are doing, why it’s happening, and how learning is disrupted)
Walks teachers through a structured routine-design process so systems are clear, teachable, and replicable
Emphasizes predictability, dignity, and consistency—not control or compliance
Models how routines support culture, relationships, and learning, not just behavior
What I’m most proud of is that this training isn’t theoretical. Teachers leave with systems they can implement immediately, along with a clear plan for teaching and reteaching routines after breaks.
This is how I approach all EmpowerED Coaching work:✔ Built from real classrooms✔ Designed for real teachers✔ Tailored to the specific needs of the site and student population
If your teachers are navigating challenges around routines, transitions, late arrivals, language, engagement, or classroom culture—especially in alternative or high-needs environments—I’d love to explore how this work could be customized for your schools.
